If we
truly love a person, we love them for exactly who they are. Real love is to
want the happiness of the other, as cliché as it may sound. You do not love
someone because of what he or she can give you, but because of who he/she is.
In this kind of love, you have more reasons to feel strongly for your
significant other, to feel joy in his or her company. A profound kind of love
is rooted in the object of your affection, over their qualities and flaws.
To love in
such a way implies a free choice: it is to decide to love that person, and to
commit yourself to him or her. You cannot love truly without giving some of your
freedom to that person. And of course, we expect that is going to be
reciprocated because this is the condition of a relationship. Finding the
happiness of the one you love is adding up to your own happiness.
